Emma Crockford Akiyama
She is a graduate of Stanford University with Master of Arts in Anthropology (1982) where she studied cognitive anthropology, cross cultural communication and researched women's social status in different cultures.
She then matriculated at the M. Phil Program in Management Studies at Oxford University in England (1983-1984), (St. Antony's College) where she specialized in international marketing and finance.
She has an extensive international business experience in a variety of international corporations, having worked in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
She started as an investment banker (1985-1990) in New York and Los Angeles, where she worked on major investment transactions.
She then worked for the US Department of Commerce as a Commercial Specialist at US Embassy in Tokyo, where her responsibility was to promote US exports to Japan in the industries such as Services (finance, insurance, direct marketing, franchising etc. ) and multimedia (1991-1993).
After returning to the San Francisco Bay Area, she established her own business consulting firm, A.Media,Inc., in Palo Alto, California (1994- 2001). This company specialized in advising on the US-Japan business development and media relations; clients included major Japanese technology and media companies. A Media, Inc.
She is also a non-fiction writer (Essayist) and has written over 300 essays for major magazines and newspapers. (Fujin Koron, Recruit magazines etc.) Essay
Subjects have included business, social and family issues with cross-cultural insights.
She has also been invited to give lectures by professional associations, Japanese corporations and universities; Typical topics were US-Japan business strategies, why Japanese companies fail in the US, the reality of Silicon Valley business, and the reality and illusion of women working in business.
Also many of her photographs were published in magazines.
She is currently semiretired from business, work on consulting bases for selective clients only.
She is actively involved in Christian evangelism and philanthropic activities.
She has been a board member of JCCNC (Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Northern California) since 1999. She is currently chairperson of VIP San Francisco and was chair of VIP AZABU. Currently active partner of Kyocei Consulting Partners

91年-93年、米国大使館勤務(東京) 。商務官として（米国商務省下）対日輸出促進のあらゆる企画の責任者を務める。
★経営コンサルティング
93年4月サンフランシスコ・ベイエリア（シリコンバレー）でマネジメント・コンサルティング業を始める。｛A.Media, Inc.(カリフォルニア法人)代表取締役｝ 日米企業の合弁事業のコーディネーション、新規事業開発、などのコンサルティングを中心に行った。また日本のメディア（雑誌社、新聞社など）の現地における取材にも協力。 A Media, Inc.
★エッセイスト：ビジネス、経済、社会など幅広く執筆。数々の雑誌にあらゆる寄稿、連載をもった。中央公論新社の「婦人公論」に隔週で1年間「ベイエリアの微風」という連載を掲載（2000年2月22日号より2001年3月7日号まで）女性の生きかたを日比較文化的洞察をとりいれながら執筆。 Essay

現在はKyocei Consulting Partners (共生コンサルティング・パートナーズ）を秋山隆英と設立し限られたプロジェクトのみのコンサルティング活動を行う。
キリスト教伝道、クリスチャン福祉活動、啓蒙活動、また動物愛護活動に尽力している。
